Born and raised in San Diego, Ricky grew up on a steady diet of beach days and California burritos.

Discovering photography in his teenage years, he decided to pursue it formally, attending Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara.

After graduating, Ricky landed in Los Angeles, where he sharpened his craft while assisting photographers including Alexi Lubomirski, Jacob Sutton, Hedi Slimane, and Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.

He later moved to New York City to work alongside Daymion Mardel. After five years as Daymion’s first assistant, he went on to launch his own career.
